The name Morunda?
Morunda is the name of the family property on which Philip (the owner and founder) was raised on the eastern side of Armidale, NSW, Australia. He chose the name to honor his parents Maxwell and Bridgid Carrigan. Morunda is synonymous with passion, dedication, and simply getting the job done.

Philip Carrigan – Founder, Representative Director
Philip Carrigan is based in Tokyo and has more than 10 years of executive consulting experience. He is renowned in the industry for recruiting top talent for a broad range of multinational companies from marketing and clinical development managers to directors.
Philip established Morunda K.K after previously working for a Japanese executive search firm, where he led a 12-person team.
This crack recruitment team grew to become Japan’s premier Life Science Practice Group.
Philip is recognized as one of Asia’s leading recruiters in the life sciences industry and has personally placed more than 200 executives throughout his career.
Originally from Australia, Philip holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Leicester University, England and a Diploma of Education from Armidale College of Advanced Education. He has lived in Japan since 1997.
He is an active member of Pharma Delegates and is a monthly, contributing writer for Japan’s leading English Pharmaceutical publication, Pharma Japan.

Gladys Toh-Carrigan – Partner, Office Manager
Gladys is the Director for Administration, originally from Singapore and is a founding member of Morunda KK. She holds a Bachelor in Arts , Major in Marketing from University of Canberra, Australia. She has extensive experience in Sales, Marketing and the Service industry and has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong. Gladys spent several years living in Dubai UAE, working as a cabin crew for Emirates Airline. She speaks Mandarin and English. Gladys has been living in Japan since 2008.

Joaquin Zuluaga – Consultant
Originally from Los Angeles, USA, Joaquin graduated from UCLA and studied Classical Japanese （古典） at Osaka University. Joaquin concentrated on The Tale of Heike （平家物語）and literature from Edo period Japan.
Before joining Morunda Joaquin lived in the rural town of Takahashi in Okayama prefecture. He has lived in Japan for over 3 years. He speaks fluent Japanese.
Joaquin specializes in clinical development.

Giorgio Villa – Consultant
Originally from Italy, Giorgio spent the majority of his formative years in Switzerland, where in addition to his native Italian, learned to speak fluent English and German. At the University of Bern, he obtained his PHD in Organic Chemistry, graduating amongst the top of his class. From there he spent four months doing his postdoctoral research at the University of Barcelona, followed by a year and a half continuing his post-doctoral research at the prestigious Scripps Institute in California. With his vast scientific knowledge, Giorgio joins Morunda on the Clinical development team, having the unique skillset of having participated in drug development, and fundamentally understanding global research and development.

Tommy Liu – Consultant
Tommy is a consultant in the Marketing practice team . He from Los Angeles, USA and graduated from the University California Berkley with a B.A. in Japanese Language. He speaks Japanese, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), and English. He came to Japan in September 2008 educating the youth of Japan. He has a deep interest in Japanese culture.

Kaliunaa Chuluunkhuu - Consultant
Originally from Ulaanbaator, Mongolia, Khaliunaa graduated from Ritsumeikan APU with a B.A. in Asia Pacific Studies, followed by two years continuing RMWC fellowship program at Randolph Macon Women`s college in the USA. At the University of International University Of Japan, she obtained her M.A. in International Peace Studies, International Relations and was the recipient of the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Scholarship. From there she spent one year on her M.A. thesis research at Carleton University in Canada. She did her internship in both the World Campus International, Inc. and Peace Boat NGO in Tokyo, Japan. She speaks Mongolian, English, and Japanese. Khaliunaa is a consultant in the Marketing practice team.
